Skin Cancer: Most skin cancers are generally felt to be caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun. There are other causes. Basal cell skin cancer can usually be treated by local excision. Squamous cell skin cancer and melanoma are more aggressive and can metastasize. They require more extensive surgery. Any suspicious skin lesion should be biopsied.
