A member asked:

I often have the ability to combat the anxiety on my own, but some days are harder than others and i think that long term i do need professional help.

Depends on details: There are many signs that may suggest depression, such as: feelings of sadness or hopelessness, sleep disturbances, tiredness or a lack of energy, either weight gain or weight loss due to appetite changes, anxiety or restlessness, slowed thinking, feeling worthless, etc... Seeing one's primary care doctor is a good start. Likewise for anxiety. "Frightening thoughts" may mean a trip to the ER.
