Why would a dr suggest ability for anxiety?

NOT INDICATED: Abilify (aripiprazole) is an atypical anti-psychotic with indications for psychosis like with schizophrenia, or for bipolar disorder, or for augmentation of resistant depression. There is no indication for "anxiety" by itself. I would check back with your physician on this.

Couple of Reasons: Life is not always completely clear. Although anxiety is not an fda indication for abilify, (aripiprazole) using it as an adjunct for an anxious depression may make sense. Notice that you are already on wellbutrin. If you have anxiety to such as extent that it causes significant dissociation - then it really would make sense. Atypical antipsychotics are quite appropriate for marked dissociation.
