A member asked:

I have had for like approd 10 years a recurring vaginal infection and has taken a lot of antibiotics over the years. could this be a cause for my recently diagnosed autoimmune deficiency?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cause vs. result: In general, a recurring vaginal infection does not cause an autoimmune disorder. Instead, it may be the other way around. An immune disorder may lead to poor immune function and allow a person to get infections more easily. There are many immune or autoimmune disorder types. Possibly some are triggered by infections, but that's a complex issue.
