Eyes: Sunken eyes are most commonly caused by dehydration. However, conditions that cause swelling or enlargement of orbit surrounding the eyes can make them appear sunken. If you are noticing darkness especially around or under the eyes then a sinus problem would likely cause this. Endocrine issues such as thyroid problems or acromegaly would be possibilities.
