A member asked:

Is antibiotic associated diarrhea always caused by c diff infection or there could be other reasons as well?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Other reasons exist: Doctor might check for C. difficile intestinal infection. Culturelle probiotics may help somewhat. There are many Lactobacillus types, and different studies have tried various amounts of billions CFUs (colony forming units). There is not much good research that one can find on one particular brand or strain of Lactobacillus, but the GG strain in Culturelle decreased diarrhea in antibiotic users.
