A member asked:

Im 50 yrs old and have been playing guitar since i was 16. i developed osteoarthritis in my fingers. im very confused about whether to continue playing everyday as always or do i need to stop to prevent further damage and preserve my joints

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rheumatologist: I assume that continuing some form of exercise for the fingers is important to preserve range of motion. Guitar playing may be more stressful for your fingers and could worsen wear and tear on the joints. I think a rheumatologist could advise you best before you give up the guitar.
