Sometimes: Sinus radiographs are designed to help physicians visualize the structures (bone and soft tissues) superior to your maxillary teeth. There is some overlap, and at times dental problems can be picked up. Dental radiographs tend to show more detail of the teeth and the surrounding bone.

Possibly: Remember that an x-ray is a 2 dimensional representation of a 3 dimensional object. It is best at imaging hard tissue problems rather than soft tissue problems. While there is some overlap, because of the angle at which the films are taken and the density of the exposure overlapping diagnostic efficiency is not optimum. Best advice, see your Dentist to evaluate for dental infection.
