About new coughs: If some cough is just from a mild cold, then the over-the-counter cold medicines are what adults usually find relief with. However, some illnesses such as asthma, allergies, strep throat and "the flu" also have these same cough symptoms, but can be treated by one's primary care doctor with additional medicines. A doctor's evaluation can be helpful.

Cough: Hydrate well. Consider using a warm air vaporizer. Mix several teaspoons of honey into herbal tea w a squeeze of lemon juice. Or make tea w 2 tsp of Marshmallow root bark per 1 cup of hot water (steep in a covered pot for at least 5 mins). Drink several times a day or as needed to relieve coughing. See a physician if cough is not resolving, difficulty breathing or temp greater than 104.
