Careful supervision: Corticosteroid creams, ointments, lotions, or gels can do a great job of clearing up skin conditions but they are not used longterm unless under careful physician's supervision. The doctor usually advises on how to use such "steroid creams" only when needed, and wean down to weaker steroid creams as soon as possible. Longterm use has too many undesirable side effects.
