Contusion: This contusion or bone bruise occurred in a place with no natural padding so the skin and bone bore the brunt of injury. Unfortunately healing of this type of injury often takes 1 to 2 months to fully heal. If no improvement takes place after the period or if pain worsens, an orthopedic surgeon should be consulted. A diagnostic MRI may be recommended.
