A member asked:

My 17 year old daughter is passing blood in her stools. bright red with clots on occasion . total 5 bowel movements thus far. has had gastrointestinal issues in past. colonoscopy and endoscopy both clear other than evidence of reflux?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Basics: Bright red blood on/in fecal debris usually originated from near the outlet. Either the anus itself or nearby. This often accompanies hard/bulky or rapidly passed poop. Blood from further inside (colon) is usually darker towards a maroon color due to digestive enzymes. The description suggests an issue at the outlet.
