A member asked:

If someone i love has hsv1 and 2 with no outbreak and i have a low immune system how can i protect myself and still be with them? or is it just something i will get also?

Details, details: A couple can see one or both of their primary care doctors to figure this out. "Low immune system" means different things to different people, so that has to be clearly defined at first. Then, both people can get their HSV1 and HSV2 antibody levels checked to compare them. The treatment decisions that follow will depend on which person has which antibody (and on how reliable the results are).
