Hugs/comfort: True flu (test confirmed) is rarely treated within the first 48 hrs with antivirals. (usually only those requiring hospital care) For most colds the prime treatment is focused on maintaining good fluid balance (they pee every 6 hrs or more) & simple nutrition. None of the "cold" meds sold over the counter have any true value beyond giving you something to do.
