Question to cardiology:echo 2016 (mild lv diastolic dysfunction) but not in 2019 echo.is it a benign condition?ejection fraction 58%had mitral repair 2013.i'm asymptomatic not short of breath.don't take betablockers anymore, advantage in taking them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Beta blockers: Since your ejection fraction is normal and the last echocardiogram didn't show diastolic function, the only reason to take beta blockers would be to slow a rapid heart rate or to treat or prevent other cardiac arrhythmias. Also, beta blockers don't relax a stiff heart muscle. I see no reason for you to take them. Your cardiologist is best to answer your question, however.
