Usually quite well: Normal, healthy people who get typical mild or moderate bruises should heal quite well. Humans can recover from mild trauma like bruising. Probably over the past millennia, people who genetically were better at healing passed those genes onward so the human race evolved to the current state where we heal well. The healing process involves replacing the damaged cells over about 2-3 weeks.
