7-10 days: A bruise from a contussion or trauma to the skin and underlying tissues resolves in about 7 days. The bruise will change colors red to bluish , to green, yellow and fade away on caucasian skin tone. These colors are more difficult to see on darker skin tones but the time to fade is the same. This also assumes your blood clotting times are normal.

Bruising: It depends on several factors, but typically 1-2 weeks is common. If the trauma was to deep muscle or a large surface area it could take longer. Also, if you are on aspirin, warfarin, or other meds that affect the blood system it could take longer. Disorders of the blood system such as low platelets can cause easy bruising.
