A member asked:

Can straining and constipaion cause a brain aneurysm to form in a a healthy young adult. i sometimes feel sharp pains while constipated and feel like one of the arteries will rupture ? is this possible or is thus not how brain bleeds happen

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not: Hemorrhoids will result from excessive straining, and while blood pressure may increase as well, it is not likely to cause formation of an aneurysm in the brain. The body has several safety mechanisms to control blood pressure, and will respond appropriately. Regarding the constipation, drink more water, consume senna containing fresh or dried fruits (apricots, cherries, plums-prunes or teas.
