Depends on details: Lab values can vary (even if there has been no change in a patient's status nor medications). That is why lab results are "just numbers," and one should see her doctor (who knows the whole story) for an interpretation of her results. A "reflex" test is done usually if the first test is outside the reference range. Thus, if TSH is above or below the reference range, a Free T4 hormone test is done.
