May be an emergency: An older adult with new changes in vision (partial loss of vision) can talk with her primary care doctor and her ophthalmologist to see if it is an emergency situation. If those doctors are not immediately available to talk with, a person would typically go to the ER so the ER doctor can check things out. Some changes in vision have to be emergently treated to prevent permanent loss of vision.
