Groin lump: If the lump recedes when you press it, it is a reducible inguinal hernia. If it doesn't recede it is an incarcerated inguinal hernia which requires immediate attention by a surgeon. Other groin lumps that are tender and don't recede are abscesses, aneurysms and inflamed lymph nodes. Consult a general surgeon for diagnosis and advice.
