A member asked:

My doctor did a breath test today what do they check for with that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on the test: There are several "breath tests" and more are likely to be invented in the near future. There is the Urea Breath Test for H. pylori infection, the Carbohydrate Malabsorption Breath Test that can identify lactose intolerance or other carb malabsorptions, and the SIBO Breath Test to check for bacterial overgrowth in the small bowel. Of course, there is the alcohol breath test, plus some more.
