Anything unusual: When we doctors check the tummy, we look for things that are not normal, plus we want to see that the normal things are properly there. Many things are in the abdomen: stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, gall bladder, large intestine, abdominal muscles, kidneys, aorta, etc... A good exam helps decide what may or may not be causing the symptoms.
