Hard to say: Your post is rather vague with no explanation of why you list coxsackie as your son's diagnosis. Among dozens of strains of that virus there are at least 3 that can produce blisters on the feet & hands. Whether itching or hurting is a early sign they are at work is hard to say.

Many things possible: Several viruses can cause hand-foot-mouth disease, most often due to Coxsackie virus. A patient gets mouth sores and throat sores, plus spots on the palms and soles, and sometimes spots elsewhere. Mostly seen in kids, HFM disease can also infect teens and adults if they lack immunity to it. Itching and fingers/feet pain might be related to the illness or might be coincidental. Doctor can evaluate.
