Muscle contraction: It appears that the paravertebral muscle is very tight and prone to some degree of spasm. If you're concerned about ongoing back problems, I recommend being seen by a spine specialist or spine clinic for full diagnosis of your spinal status and treatment. Appropriate testing will be carried out. Physical therapy, massage therapy, muscle relaxants may be recommended.

Agree with Dr. C: An additional treatment is exercise. Raising your core body temperature by exercise will make your muscles relax. It may three months of regular exercise for the effect to be meaningful. Any exercise, walking, running, treadmill, elliptical will do as long you exercise vigorously enough and long enough to sweat profusely.
