A member asked:

Good day. i have recently done medical check ups and my blood pressure is 140/100 which is higher than normal ( age 30). what could be the course of it if i dont have anyone with the history of blood pressure, always exercises and eat healthy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Needs investigation: Consistently 140/100 is stage 2 hypertension, so the doctor will likely consider medications, but each patient is looked at individually (needs exam and tests). The categories are: Elevated Blood Pressure: systolic between 120-129 AND diastolic less than 80; Stage 1 hypertension: systolic between 130-139, OR diastolic between 80-89; Stage 2: systolic at least 140, OR diastolic at least 90 mmHg.
