My newborn has vomited 3 times in 2 days. since we landed in uganda. she coughs in a way that looks like she's choking. only one or 2 coughs at a time then it's better. the only difference in the environment is that there are cats. breastfeeding only?

Reflux not Uganda: This is rather common behavior in a newborn who is just getting used to feeding. Stomach contents may travel up to & into the mouth or nose. If it makes it up to near the voice box it may trigger a cough while they re-swallow it. It may worsen with age up to 3-4 months or may lessen as the kid gets feeding under control. You can discuss it with the doc if it continues.

Conditions : Infection and / or reflux may b the underlying cause. Good hand washing and avoidance of infection is advised. Watch for fever and coughing fits.Continue to breastfeed.
