Dr. can check throat: Such symptoms can be from the flu (Tamiflu may be used), strep throat (antibiotics are needed), a cold (antibiotics usually not used), or another cause... Usually, a person sees his doctor if symptoms are bothersome or don't go away quickly. This is flu season in the US, and doctors can do a rapid flu test swab in the office, seeing one's primary care doctor may be a good idea.
