A member asked:

I have an iud, and after my period i still have reddish brown discharge for weeks, sometimes months. is it time to change birth controls?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IUD questions: An IUD , while still effective, can be pushed into the cervical canal by uterine contractions, which causes mild bleeding (bron is just oxidized blood). See your gyn physician for an exam and pelvic ultrasound to make sure the IUD is situated properly. It may have to be changed to prevent the prolonged bleeding.
