Top of my right big toe has burning sensation on and off at the joint where it meets the foot. no swelling, no redness, just very intense burning sensation. no injury to the area.

Burning sensation: Is suggesting a peripheral neuropathy or a local nerve being compressed. Would suggest having a local exam with your doc and possibly seeing a podiatrist as needed. Otherwise a typical joint affected by gout.
