A member asked:

Hi. last year whilst travelling, i had a terrible experience with gastroenteritis. is there a vaccine that i can take to prevent this for future travel?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: Gastroenteritis is a generic term for an infectious process of the gut caused by dozens of separate strains of virus & some bacteria. There is a vaccine for rotovirus that is given to infants, but most adults are already immune. The best approach to avoiding gastro is good hand washing and watching where/what you eat.
