Wash your hands: A GI bug can be passed through your food or from poor hygeine. Proper precautions, such as when preparing poultry, can help. But sometimes, when foods are contaminated, there is no prevention. And many people (for example, on a cruise ship) can pick up norovirus with exposure only to surfaces. Still, washing your hands before you eat and cooking your food thorougly is a good start.
