I dont know if what i have is a cold sore. if it is, its pretty close to healed because its flat and theres no more scabbing. but it never hurt so im not sure it was a cold sore, and i want to be safe and not give my bf herpes if i kiss him.

Good idea, but: Lip Herpes type 1 is hard to avoid. The majority of adults have had cold sores on a lip. It is hard to live a normal life if one tries to be clean enough not to catch oral herpes, because that would mean a very high level of "germ avoidance," which we now know can be bad for humans. Being too clean creates humans who lack some beneficial germs. That said, it's ok to not kiss until sores go away.
