Doctor can evaluate: A young adult with cough and congestion, plus chest pain and tightness, can be examined by his doctor or the ER. Possible problems include: asthma, viral or bacterial pneumonia, influenza (the flu), heart disease like pericarditis, a partial pneumothorax, etc... The doctor or ER will examine and may order x-rays of the chest.
