Is UTI correct: How was diagnosis of UTI made? On a voided urine specimen, urine culture, or just the fever in an elderly woman? Although UTI are fairly common in elderly other things can cause fever too. Did she have any other voiding sx or abdominal pain or cough? I feel a woman especially an obese woman or elderly woman should have a cath urinalysis and culture to confirm an UTI. if negative look elsewhere
