Grunting = ER visit: Noise during breathing can come from the nose, throat, trachea, voice box, or lungs. Kids with nasal allergies or with big tonsils or adenoids often make breathing noises. However, a sick baby with fast breathing, fast heart rate, plus grunting usually means there is a serious problem where parents need to call 911 for the ambulance (shouldn't drive unless there is no ambulance). ER will evaluate.
