A member asked:

My son has a bump that looks just like a ringworm on the back of his head. hes not acting different and it seems to not be bothering him because he is not scratching or picking at it. should i be worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A little bit: His pediatrician can evaluate and may refer to a dermatologist. If truly scalp ringworm, a patient would need oral antifungal medication. As long as a child's doctor is monitoring the child's progress and rechecking him every so often during treatment, drug side effects are not expected. With children, doctors usually double-check the dosing to be sure it is correct for each child's weight.
