A member asked:

What is a way to distinguish anxiety/muscle pain from cardiac related pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chest pain: Symptoms are very similar, but patients with known anxiety can start with breathing, relaxation, or other cognitive techniques to abort it while if having a new onset of chest pain (tightness, squeezing, heaviness), shortness of breath, lightheadedness, pain that radiates to the jaw or arm, or a ripping sensation in their chest or back, should go to the ER due to possible myocardial infarction.
