A member asked:

What are the functions of cardiac muscle fibers?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: The heart is a muscle with very special qualities. The main bulk of heart muscle helps pump blood to the lungs to get oxygen and then pumps that oxygen rich blood to the rest of the body. Then there is a special type of cardiac fibers that helps conduct electrical impulses from two "pacemaker" sites in the heart, the sa and av nodes which allow the heart to keep pumping for your entire life.
