A member asked:

Is it true that ovulating earlier in the cycle can decrease chances of conception? i heard that the egg might not be mature enough if its released before day 14. i usually show symptoms of ovulation around days 8-12, with my period two weeks later.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Early ovulation ?: At 38, your pituitary is producing a higher level of ovarian stimulation, resulting frequently in ovulation at day 8-12. The egg is fully mature at the point of ovulation even if released "early". Conception is not diminished, although if not planned for by earlier intercourse, ovulation may be "missed". Best to plan pregnancy based on testing for ovulation.
