Shunt: An AV shunt is an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein. Blood pool would be where venous blood collects. Term usually reserved for people with venous congestion in legs who have valvular insufficiency. This is likely a AV malformation. However hemagioma possible, but that is usually more of a collection of vessels.
