Baby is trying...: Baby is trying to say something such as: I'm hungry, I'm too full, I need something to suck on, I'm too hot, I'm too cold, It's too bright, It's too loud, My diaper feels weird, I need a massage, My tummy hurts, My head hurts,... I think that's about all they say. A parent can try to figure out what Baby is saying, and relay that information to the pediatrician.

Sleep and soothing: She may cry due to a reason such as hunger, wet diaper or illness, but if there is no reason apparent after checking on your daughter, she can be allowed to soother herself back to sleep within a short time frame. A regular time between crying and picking her up will promote a more regular sleep pattern. As she matures, her neurologic sleep center also matures and she will awaken less often .
