Severe = see doctor: Many things are in the abdomen: stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, gall bladder, appendix, large intestine, abdominal muscles, kidneys, etc... An exam by a primary care doctor can help figure things out. Pain in the right upper abdomen can be due to gallstones, pancreatitis, stomach ulcers, etc... Stomach flu, food poisoning, appendicitis, shingles, or ovarian problems also cause pain.
