A member asked:

Are there any over the counter meds i can take or do i have to go see a gp or optometrist ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Eye doctor can check: An ophthalmologist (medical eye doctor) should check. He has magnifying equipment that provides a good exam of the eyeball and eyelids. The eye doctor can see infection, irritation or inflammation, lack of tears, abnormal eyelid position, something stuck in the eye, etc... If a person suspects a piece of dirt, sand, metal, wood, etc., is in his eye, the ER can help if no eye doctor is available.
