A member asked:

Is it normal if nurses/midwives can't hear or detect the baby's heartbeat at 23 weeks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fetal heart ?'s: If the nurses/midwives are not using a "Doptone" device and just using a "fetoscope" device, the heart may be difficult to hear. To be safe, ask your OB physician to do a pelvic sonogram so the fetus can be seen and the heartbeat as well .
