Throat culture: A throat culture will help your physician in deciding which antibiotic is indicated based on the bacteria grown. Strep A is a common cause and if you are concerned regarding malignancy, samples may be sent to the Pathology lab. In the meantime, monitor for fever, drink soothing liquids and rest until seen.
