A member asked:

My throat is excruciatingly painful when i eat or drink anything. is there anything i can do to stop this? i had a night of heavy drinking last night by the way

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sore throat: This may be the start of a viral upper respiratory tract infection or a strep throat. Gargle with warm salt water and suck on soothing lozenges like cepestat. If sore throat doesn't gradually improve and no head cold ensues, get a rapid throat culture to check for strep which would require antibiotic treatment.
