Cannot tell: There is usually no way to tell through a single question on a public forum whether or not a hypochondriacal OCD patient's symptom is created by her OCD, or is due to a non-OCD illness. Therein lies the dilemma for OCD hypochondriacs. Her own primary care doctor can discuss the issues and decide whether more evaluation is needed. Successful treatment of the OCD helps avoid these situations.
