Could be a stye: This could be a stye, or an infection of the glands or the eyelid. It may be a stye if it is red and tender. Styes are caused by bacteria and can occur if you're using contaminated makeup or if you're prone to skin infections of the face. Without an image, it's hard to tell what exactly is going on though. Best thing to do would be evaluated by your primary care physician.
