My 4.5 year old is congested and has a cough. is there a cough suppressant/decongestant that you would recommend for that age? childrens cough medicine

None: Studies in the US find little or no benefit to use of these products in kids under 6. The frequency of ER visits due to random overdoses lead to a re-evaluation of their use/benefits. A little chocolate or honey & lemon are old fashion treatments that help some, along with assuring good hydration.
